This past week I asked members of our congregation to tell me what our church meant to them, and how they described it to others. I was amazed at the responses and how almost each one had the same thing to say, but three of those things jumped out at me.
First, almost every one of them said that when they walk in the church it feels like home. Secondly, just about all of them said that it was a place where their hope was restored. And finally, most spoke of the spirit of family where no one is judged and everyone is accepted just as they are.
I believe that describes us pretty well. I think you will agree. We’d love to see you.

“Offering hope to a broken world”

We believe that the foundation of a strong church can be found in Acts 2:42:
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer”.

+ We believe that the Bible should be the basis of how we live life, so we will teach sound Biblical messages that are relevant for the our lives and the times in which we live.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” II Timothy 3:16
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom,…” Colossians 3:16
“Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.” Psalm 119:35

+ We believe that prayer is vital to the lives of the believer, so we will teach on prayer, have regular times of prayer and allow for times of prayer for one another’s needs.

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people”. Ephesians 6:18

+ We believe that fellowship births deep relationships, so we will encourage “meeting together” and “breaking bread” often so that these relationships might be formed. We believe that “relationship releases ministry.”

“…Just as a nursing mother cares for her children so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted
to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” II Thessalonians 2:7-8

“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another,
especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:25

+ We believe that every person is valuable to God, so we will do everything we can to point them to Jesus, and love them unconditionally.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you,
not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him
will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

+ We believe that the church should be a safe place where hope can be restored to those who have been broken by this world, so we will accept people just as they are, and love them to wholeness.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come” Luke 4:18-19

“Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help
that person back onto the right path.” Galatians 6:1

+ We believe that every believer has a gift from God, so we will help them discover that gift, and together work to make room for them to use it.

“He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow,
so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.” Ephesians 4:16

“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” I Corinthians 12:7

+ We believe that we were created to bring glory to God, so we will endeavor to participate in worship that is “in Spirit and Truth.”

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice,
holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1

“Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!” Psalm 103:1

+ We believe that the Holy Spirit still gives spiritual gifts today “as He wills”, so we will teach on these gifts, and yield to the Holy Spirit as He moves in our services.

“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other”. I Corinthians 12:7

“Well, my brothers and sisters, let’s summarize. When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you.” I Corinthians 14:26
